Director of Sales job summary: Leads the Hampton Inn and Suites Sales Department with the overall responsibility for total revenue and yield strategies, implementation and results including group and transient rooms and meeting room rental. Strategies will include market mix, pricing, status, direct sales, marketing, and acquisition status and results.

In this role, you would be responsible for representing the hotels services and facilities to prospective clients and customers in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Supervise, motivate, develop and monitor sales activities to ensure budgeted room revenue and meeting room revenues are met and exceeded. Works closely with GM to follow and execute Marketing Plan action items and modify for successful hotel operation. Works closely with other Department Heads to run a successful overall hotel operation and reach top line revenue goals. Sets tone for professionalism and high end customer service within the sales team and throughout the hotel. Sell and service clients to meet and exceed budgeted total room revenue and meeting room revenue goals as dictated by hotel's budget. This position requires strong leadership skills by those who are not afraid to be imaginative or inspired. Hotel sales experience and 2 years of a supervisory position preferred. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Monitor STAR Reports, Hotelligence Reports and Sales Activity Reports to effectively shift market share from local competition. -Determine rates and negotiate contracts for business travel, group and citywide conventions -Understand and implement strategies for citywide demand, ie. special events, compression dates, and ensure that sales team is following selling guidelines. -Develop sales strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals outlined by the hotel's overall budget -Accountable to market performance and potential performance as well as budget, forecast, and target goals. -Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required. -Develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management. -Manage/direct all advertising, public relations and promotional activities. -Oversee inventory, purchasing, disbursement and cost control for all sales related and promotion items. -Responsible for overseeing all brand and property specific marketing and promotional collateral. - Responsible for leading and managing all social media initiatives. -Responsible for taking advantage of all brand sales/marketing/training tools. -Communicate and reinforce the vision for exceptional service to associates. - Effectively train new team members by following Hilton/Hampton's guided training. -Coordinate the department's activities with other departments to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction. -Develop and implement strategies and practices which support associate engagement: -Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the staff. -Ensure that sales team is following the Sales Standard Operating Procedures. -Follow the meeting space selling guidelines to ensure maximum room revenue per occupied meeting room. -Maintain, create, and hotel team accountable for account lists in Delphi through accurate account entry and proper trace systems to follow up in a timely manner. -Respond promptly and hold team accountable to all inquires, lead referrals, and existing clients; resulting in documentation of all communication within 4 hours. -Generate new business through personal contacts as described in the above list of activities. -Communicate and report all activities on a timely basis to the GM -Develop knowledge of the competition to better aid in the solicitation of accounts and network with industry peers to increase referral business. -Keep abreast of all in-house functions and ensure that sales staff is communicating effectively with all departments to ensure a successful execution of their groups. -Be completely knowledgeable of the hotel's emergency procedures as instructed by hotel management. -Review guest list in house/arrivals report to be aware of potential company business to target within assigned market segments. -Direct and attend daily sales stand up, weekly sales & staff meetings. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: -Must be able to communicate in the primary language of the hotel. -Must wear proper uniform/dress at all time and be well groomed. -Must maintain flexible schedule to accommodate hotel business and networking functions. -Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. -Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors. -Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff -Delphi knowledge considered a plus. -Hilton/Hampton Certifications a Plus - OnQ, R&I, Hampton Sales, etc
