SMASHotels is seeking a talented Room Service Server/Runner to join our one-of-a-kind luxury, lifestyle hotel that celebrates a creative class of consumers seeking artistically curated travel, dining and hospitality experiences. This unique property currently under construction and located in the heart of the Chicago's Magnificent Mile, is being developed by the creators of famed theWit Hotel in Chicago's Loop and scheduled to open in April 2017. It will be a member of Marriott's elite luxury Autograph Collection® Hotel.
Responsibilities will include:
JOB SUMMARY:Serve guest needs by providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items as well as information regarding preparation methods.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Deliver food orders including any special needs or requests to the guest in-room, check completed kitchen orders with the order taker or guest’s original order; transport items to the guestroom in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality. • Greet guests, describe selected items to the guest using interesting, and vivid descriptions of each item’s, origin, taste, and preparation methods; communicate options for removal of trays and dishware; respond to request for tray removal according to established time standards.• Breakdown, clean and set-up of room service tables, condiment set-ups, flatware, dishware, and room service side stations.• Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests.• Properly and accurately close guest checks securing room number and signature; properly settle voided checks or complimentary meals. • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors. QUALIFICATIONS:• Minimum one year’s food service or related work required.• Strong F&B knowledge is preferred. • Requires knowledge or the ability to operate computer equipment and the reservations system.• Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.• Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and/or walking with or without reasonable accommodation.• Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. frequently.• Must be able to prioritize and multi-task.• Communicate in the primary language of the hotel.• Able to work: Holidays, weekends and any day/shift.
